Rearrangements

For the exhibition 'Bad Habits' in the NHow in Milan 2010 two benches have been designed that consist of re-used ornaments that are being poured into an artificial resin. The seat of the first one is made out of a number of wooden 'balusters'' (turned pieces of a balcony fence) that have been cut longitudinally. For the eight legs to support it however four balusters have been applied that instead of in linear direction were cut across. So in the bench now both the original shape and the cross section of the balusters are visible.

The second bench is made up of strips of wood with profiles and ormanents that have been cut out of incomplete cabinets. These strips were then poured into an artificial resin and by doing so have been glued together. The ornaments and profiles of these cabinets are in that way reused to form a sober bench.
